Commemorating CN’S Centennial Year
Congratulatory message from CRHA to CN on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of its founding
(Canada Car CN 63 – 1898)
The Canadian Railroad Historical Association congratulates CN on achieving one hundred years of service to Canada`s transportation needs on 6th June, 2019.
Initially formed by an amalgamation of several Canadian railways, including the Intercolonial, Grand Trunk, Canadian Northern and National Transcontinental railways, CN has grown over the years to be the largest railway transportation network in Canada, with extensive trackage in the USA as well. It has progressed from its difficult early years into arguably North America`s best railway today. CN tracks reach from the Atlantic to the Pacific to the Gulf of Mexico.
CRHA members have long had a passionate interest in CN and have preserved an extensive collection of locomotives, passenger and freight cars, documents and other objects relating to CN and its predecessor companies. These are located at EXPORAIL, the Canadian Railway Museum, in suburban Montreal, with some locomotives in our collection on display at other locations in Canada. CN has been and continues to be a valued supporter of the preservation activities carried out by the CRHA.
EXPORAIL will be hosting some exhibits featuring CN`s long history during this important anniversary year, and staging some CN100 days at the museum. Visit exporail.org for details on these, and come learn about CN`s fascinating history. And the CRHA`s bi-monthly magazine Canadian Rail will be producing four issues dedicated to CN100 beginning with the May-June issue.
Our hats are off to CN for its vital contribution to Canada over the past century, and we send our best wishes for continued success in this 21st Century. All Canadians can be proud of CN.
