Since its foundation in 1932, the C.R.H.A. has collected a wide variety of documents:  photographs, correspondence, documents, plans and specifications, all relating to the history of the railroads in Canada.

THE C.R.H.A. ARCHIVES includes over 100 archival fonds and collections from railway companies such as the CN, the CP and the Grand Trunk, from manufacturers, MLW and CC&F among others, from prominent men like Charles Melville Hays and William Cornelius Van Horne, from former employees and from people passionated by the railway history. The archives contain over 144,000 plans, 180,000 photographs, 257 linear meter of textual documents, totalling more than a quarter of a million documents of all description. The Archives also have their own documentation center.
