Raymond Corley collection. - 1885-1998.
Biographical sketch :
Raymond F. Corley was born in Toronto. He
graduated from the University of Toronto in 1948.
He first worked for General Electric at Erie,
Pennsylvania, in the locomotive and rail car test
department. He returned to Canada in 1949 as a
transportation engineer, still with General
Electric, where he subsequently became sales
director for motors and generators, then design of
transportation equipment. In 1965 he was named
director for transportation of equipment, sales
planning for Canadian railway-related operations,
urban rapid transit and industrial applications.
He also collected postage stamps showing the
railway world. With Anthony Clegg, he co-authored
the book Canadian National Steam Power, published
in 1969. He is a member of the Association of
Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Land
Transporation Committee of the IEEE and the
Locomotive Maintenance Officers Association. He is
also a percussionist for the Peterborough Symphony
Orchestra.
Custodial history :
The collection was transferred to the Association archives by its creator in 1995. CNR documents that he had donated in 1968 were found in September 1998.
Scope and content :
The Raymond Corley collection shows railway-related philatelic output from around the world. The collection consists of postage stamps, first-day covers and special envelopes, as well as correspondence.

15 albums: postage stamps. - 0.05 m of textual materials.
General note :
Title based on the name of the collector. The
documents are classified by country, and then
chronologically. There will be annual transfers
until 1999. The CNR documents discoveres in
September 1998 have not been described in the
collection. Modifications will have to be made.
