Fundraising Campaign 2023-2024

Thank you to the members of the CRHA who have so generously donated funds permitting the cosmetic restoration of the vehicles shown in these pictures, as well as the upcoming cosmetic restoration of steam locomotives CNR 6153 and CPR 5935 and the construction of a passenger coach for the John Molson steam locomotive.

Our objective is to raise $125,000 by March 31, 2024.

Fundraising campaign 2022

Great news!

We have now reached our fundraising goal of raising $100,000 to build a car for the John Molson steam locomotive. Nearly $107,000 has been donated by CRHA members and friends of Exporail from across Canada. The project to transform the vehicle is underway, with completion scheduled for this fall.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who gave so generously to this project.

Fundraising campaign 2021

Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum has celebrated its 60th birthday in 2021!

To mark this 60th anniversary, the Canadian Railroad Historical Association, the non-profit association, which owns Exporail, has decided to restore three vehicles from its collection to exhibit-quality condition. We had a campaign to raise $180,000 in donations from members and friends for this project.

The first vehicle to be restored is scenic dome-observation-lounge car Sibley Park.

The second vehicle to be restored will be a CN vehicle chosen from the CRHA’s collection by the Board of Directors, thanks to CN’s donation.

The third vehicle to be restored will be chosen by the donors to this campaign.

The CRHA has an expert panel reviewing our entire rolling stock collection in detail now, and we expect a report from them in early fall 2021. Three pieces, as candidates for restoration, will be selected by the CRHA Board of Directors based on the findings of this panel, and donors will vote on which of the three gets the go-ahead.

Here are the vehicles restored in recent years following our fundraising efforts:

Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum is a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to support the development and enhancement of its collections. An annual fundraising campaign is held and many activities are carried out in partnership with long-time collaborators, members of the Canadian Railroad Historical Association (CRHA), their social networks and the Friends of the Museum.
