Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum welcomes groups year-round and offers a special opportunity for children to discover history through its rich collection of life-size railway vehicles.

Elementary School Groups

Students learn to name the different components of a train by observing and exploring railway vehicles. They climb aboard two locomotives: steam and diesel-electric.

Preschool & Daycare Groups

Children listen to the story of Canada’s first steam locomotive, the Dorchester, which is now 175 years old! See how small this locomotive is compared to the giants in Exporail!

Secondary School Groups

During their visit, students are introduced to the contributions of the important figures and workers from various cultural communities who developed Canada’s railway.

Day Camps

Along with the animator-guides, the children will discover that it takes many types of workers to operate a railway vehicle: the motorman and his streetcar; the mechanic and his locomotive; the porter and his sleeper car; the conductor and his caboose.
